Where Educators and EdTech Innovators Connect
Badge scans and session check-ins generate a detailed portrait of how educators spend their conference hours — a portrait most attendees never see. We trace where that data goes, who buys it, and what you should ask before your next scan.
Seasoned attendees admit that the sessions they regret are outnumbered by the conversations they almost missed. A contrarian case for treating the hallway, the lobby, and the unstructured hour as the real professional learning.
Everyone says you should present at a conference. Few mention the rejection rates, the preparation hours, or the out-of-pocket costs. Here is an honest framework for deciding whether submitting is right for you — this year.
Panels promise the collision of five sharp minds and too often deliver five rehearsed talking points instead. This practical guide shows attendees how to read a panel early, ask questions that force substance, and salvage an hour that would otherwise be spent nodding politely.
Registration confirmation emails arrive with a wall of terms most educators scroll past in seconds. Buried inside: photo releases, recording rights, and clauses that can quietly restrict your future speaking engagements. Here's what to look for before your next 'agree' click.
When a district's travel budget flows to the same handful of veteran attendees, an entire faculty loses access to the ideas, networks, and momentum a conference can spark. Some districts are experimenting with rotation and term limits — and the results are worth examining. This opinion piece argues that conference seats are a shared resource, not a reward for seniority.
Veteran exhibitors pull back the curtain on what happens behind the booth — how leads get qualified in seconds, which questions signal a serious educator, and why some on-site promises are simply impossible to keep. Here's what the people standing on the carpet wish every attendee knew before walking the aisle.
Generative AI has made it possible for any educator to submit a flawless proposal in under an hour — and review committees have noticed. We spoke with reviewers and submitters about what's changing in the scoring room, and what honest AI use actually looks like.
Long before the first attendee scans a badge, a small team of organizers has already shaped your session's fate with a spreadsheet and a floor plan. Here's how room allocation really works — and how presenters can stop leaving their audience size to chance.
What if every vendor meeting began not with a demo, but with a demand: show us where your product breaks? A growing experiment in structured candor suggests the answer could reshape how districts buy technology and how companies earn trust.
Every year, thousands of session proposals compete for a handful of slots at education conferences, and most presenters never learn how the decision actually gets made. We followed a panel of reviewers through a real scoring cycle to uncover the rubrics, the arguments, and the quiet trade-offs that shape the program.
Some of the most transformative conference moments happen when educators deliberately sit in sessions far from their specialty. This piece explores why the 'wrong room' so often produces the right idea — and how to build a schedule that invites productive surprise.
We caught up with educators on their way out of their first national EdTech conference and asked the questions the exit surveys never do. Their candid answers — about pacing, regrets, and unexpected wins — form a practical playbook for anyone planning a first big event.
Three years after the great pivot to virtual, many EdTech conferences still straddle two formats without fully serving either audience. This piece takes stock of which pandemic-era experiments deserve a permanent home — and which hybrid habits are quietly eroding the value of showing up at all.
A growing number of US districts are handing students the planning clipboard, the breakout rooms, and even the keynote slot at their own education technology conferences. The results challenge long-held assumptions about who qualifies as an expert in the room.
Across the United States, a growing number of education conferences are handing the schedule over to the people in the room. We examine how the unconference model works, what skilled facilitation it demands, and whether it can survive at scale.
Poster sessions are routinely tucked into hallways and basement levels, yet they deliver something no keynote can: unhurried, one-on-one conversation with the person who did the work. We follow three educators whose casual poster chats grew into a district pilot, a published paper, and a career change — and make the case that organizers should stop hiding their best format in the back of the hall.
Conference floor demos are engineered to dazzle, not to disclose. This guide offers a disciplined listening framework — red flags, pointed questions, and a practical rubric — to help district teams judge EdTech tools before they ever reach a classroom.
The days between a July conference and the first bell in August are where professional learning either takes root or quietly disappears. This week-by-week framework helps educators convert one conference idea into a concrete fall pilot before the window closes.
Long before the first attendee badges in, a small crew of AV technicians, volunteers, and event organizers is racing the clock. This behind-the-scenes account of one morning's final hour reveals lessons every school and district can borrow for their own events.
